Design Assignment

Find an alternative to sending out email invitations and recording RSVP’s for our department’s Green Dot Staff Training. A good solution would increase staff engagement and attendance, streamline organization and reduce response time.  The training, led by Melissa McConaha, called We.auburn is a program promoted by Auburn University’s Division of Student Affairs. We.auburn is a local outreach for the Green Dot awareness program.

The Solution

I chose to use our online survey software, Qualtrics, to send invitations and request RSVP’s. I knew Qualtrics had a mobile solution available and we could use the staff database already uploaded into our enterprise edition of Qualtrics. Since I avoided the process of sending emails back and forth to invite staff members and the need to find a way to record and share their responses with the organizers of the training, our response time was cut in half.

Qualtrics Mobile Survey Builder

Qualtrics surveys are compatible with a variety of mobile devices, including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone systems.

Mobile Preview

With the Mobile Preview feature, you can check your survey’s mobile experience as you create it. The preview shows you the survey’s appearance on a desktop and on a mobile device.

Mobile Compatibility Advisor

The Mobile Compatibility Advisor saves you time by automatically tracking potential mobile issues, so you won’t have to constantly preview your survey to catch them all.

Sexual Assault Victims Under Age 30

Rapists Who Serve Time In Jail

Victims of Sexual Assault Who Were Intoxicated

Red Dots

Imagine for a moment a map of your town, campus, military base, community, state or neighborhood. Each act of power-based personal violence is a red dot on this map — a moment where someone uses their words or actions to harm someone.

Green Dots

Imagine adding a green dot in the middle of all those red dots on your map. A green dot is any behaviorchoiceword‚ or attitude that promotes safety for all our citizens and communicates utter intolerance for violence. A green dot is pulling a friend out of a high risk situation. A green dot is simply your individual choice at any given moment to make our world safer.

Reduction In Sexual Violence

Overall Reduction In Violence

Bystander Intervention Study

High schools that received the Green Dot training saw a 50 percent reduction in the self-reported frequency of sexual violence perpetration by students, compared to a slight increase at schools that did not. In total, more than 80,000 surveys were completed.
